Breathwork, like meditation, can take on many forms. Each with their own design producing specific results. Ben Turshen’s Breathwork sessions are both educational and experiential.

Ben Turshen’s Breathwork sessions are both educational and experiential.

Dysfunctional breathing mechanics and patterns have a profound negative effect on our health and make us feel stressed (even if you meditate!). Ben will teach you how to understand, use and train your anatomy to breathe correctly with a few simple exercises selected to address your particular breathing style.

Ben will also facilitate an incredibly powerful Breathwork experience using an active breathing technique that is designed to remove emotional blocks, fear and limiting beliefs by gently facilitating emotional release. These guided sessions can change you default emotional settings, relieve depression and anxiety, aid recovery from addiction, reconnect you to your intuition, help you access greater creativity and open your heart to greater gratitude and self-love.

What happens in a Breathwork Session?

Breathwork sessions vary based on the needs of the individual. Corrective exercises are designed to train the breathing muscles and mend dysfunctional breathing mechanics and patterns. Following these exercise, individuals will immediately feel the benefits of better breathing.

Breathwork sessions will also often include an active two-part breathing technique which is done while an individual lies on their back. The technique begins with first inhale taken into the lower torso, followed by a second smaller inhale taken into the chest, followed by an exhalation. This active breathing technique is practiced continuously for 20 to 35 minutes followed by a period of rest. This experience is facilitated by music and a number of healing tools. There are a spectrum of physical sensations and emotional experiences that an individual may have while practicing this active breathing technique.

How does Breathwork compare to Vedic Meditation?

The operative word is “work”. Where Vedic Meditation is easy and effortless, Breathwork involves some effort and is a significantly more intense and dynamic experience.

Vedic Meditation employs a “top down” methodology. It’s a mental technique that produces an automatic and spontaneous response in the body, a state of physiologic deep rest and relaxation, much deeper than sleep.

Breathwork is a “bottom up” methodology, addressing the physiology directly, which has its own corresponding impact on the mind.

What if I already learned Vedic Meditation, can Breathwork still benefit me?

Yes! Breathwork is completely supplemental and complementary to Vedic Meditation.

Meditators need to learn how to breathe properly too. If you are breathing incorrectly, you are limiting the potential benefits of your Vedic Meditation practice.
